Meat looks good but prepared pastries are a miss. Sausage rolls lack flavour and the meat pie looks great but is a mound of pastry beautiful on the outside but doughy and undercooked on the inside and the meat is nothing more than an under seasoned ground pork meatball . Staff are super friendly but they should stick to the meat products.
Sanagan’s is our absolute go-to butcher in East Toronto. The quality is always amazing and you can really taste the difference between meat from there vs a traditional grocery store. The staff are super friendly and always willing to share a tip or two if you’re not sure what to cook. We love the selection here too…steaks, sausages, really great chicken, fresh bread, prepared foods, etc. Every time we shop here we end up leaving with more than planned because everything is soo good. Easily one of the best butcher shops in the city! Pro tip - get a spicy pepperette for the road!
Just enjoyed a delicious ribeye from Sanagans Gerrard. My guy on the Counter was super helpful in choosing the best cut and special shoutout to blackbird for the super consistent best baguette in Toronto. If I die tonight it will be with a smile on my face.
Sanagan’s truly cannot be touched.. they have the best quality and selection of meat for the best value, and their customer service is unmatched. I’m a customer for life!
Best Cornish pastry I've had in a long time. The crust is absolute perfection! The coleslaw is creamy and so fresh. So many other products to try that all look delicious
I called to place a small order for delivery as I am having to isolate for Christmas, Sean was extremely helpful and friendly and although the delivery Options were full he was able to deliver me a few things so I could have a Christmas dinner! So appreciate the kindness
I've recently started shopping at Sanagan's for all of my meat purchases. I simply refuse to buy it in Loblaws any longer. Sanagan's has a great selection of freshly butchered and dry aged meat. I have bought quite a few cote de beouf's there and they are always perfectly trimmed. I like the boneless, skinless chicken, oxtails and pork shoulder. I also buy their Cornish hens. The chicken and beef stock are great also. I buy deli meats, fois gras, fresh greens, duck eggs and even charcoal at Sanagan's. If you only have time to visit one store for groceries, this may be it.
