Its definitely not a bad spot for some west indian food but in comparison to some pretty good spots I have been too, particularly on the east end, its missing something. I can't really put my finger on it but a super pleasant staff and some good quick west indian food every now and then
The roti taste good, the only reason I gave it a 1 is because the prices have increased but the portions have decreased substantially. I've been going to this roti shop for almost 2 decades now and always suggest that friends try it but lately the feedback is the portions are quite small for the price and food is ok. I went today because I haven't gone in a while and was very disappointed. The roti was tiny, very thin, and had barely any meat. I paid almost $20 for a small roti with 6 small pieces of goat and a lot of potato. Yes I counted how much pieces I got lol because I had to eat a 2nd time to get full. I would compare the roti's thinness to that of a thick doubles lol. Again very disappointing. Looks like I'll be traveling out of my neighborhood for a good roti thats not an appetizer. Ive been driving to a few spots in Scarborough because the portions and quality of food is worth it. Please donot respond to my review to tell me I'm wrong or make excuses. Numerous friends have complained and I have now had my own experience today at lunch. Makes me wonder if this restaurant is under new management because I dont see the regular lady I use to see.
I had tried their curry goat from someone else and it tasted lovely, so I decided to visit and try other items…biggest mistake and I would really like my back lol…food was gross! The doubles? Please take that off the menu, it tasted like a dhal wrap…the bone-in curry chicken, smh…the meat was not seasoned, as in, it tasted fresh…the potato was salty and curry sauce itself was a big no….save your coins.
I really wanted to like this place, but on my second visit I got two doubles and midway through the first an ant crawled out. The doubles are good but I can’t enjoy my food like that.
Excellent aloo roti and doubles! We had been craving doubles for some time - Danforth Roti was recommended to us, and for good reason! Perfectly spiced and super fresh. We will be back! No pictures as we ate them in the car on the way home :)
Tremendous skimping in all foods. Even the chick peas in the doubles and the paper thin bara. The dhal in the roti is mostly non existent. The curry chicken pieces is cut so small and so little in rice dishes and roti dishes that we have had to order from Circle Square, Mona's and other places that do not skimp. Chick peas is so cheap but they treat same like gold.
I ordered boneless curry chicken with a roti($18)1 double($3) and a can of Diet Coke. the Diet Coke was expired by almost a month, so I had her take it off the order. Total came to just under $24. The food was warm and made fast, the low rating was: 1: the price is outrageous! $18 for 5 chunks of chicken and about 5 potatoes(see picture) 1/2 the container was empty! I can get the same size container of curry chicken where the lid can barely be closed for $19 at a dif roti shop. 2: the food was very bland and life less- even for a white guy. In the last few months this place got a lot of bad reviews with detailed info, yet it also got a lot of 5 star reviews with no context/info.
