I'm not one to write reviews often, only when I'm extremely happy with a service - or extremely disappointed. In this case, I am looking for the 0 star option, because that is what they deserve. I have been ordering from this place every single week, sometimes several times a week! A few weeks ago, I made an order on Uber because our car was in the garage. The chili chicken was horrible! It was burnt and hard. I called them right away, hoping they would happily fix it with a new one, or apologize at the least. Nothing! They blamed the Uber driver and said I should contact Uber to deal with it. I did. I am always someone who gives people a second chance, so this past Friday - instead of going to the hundreds of other Hakka places around - I called to place my weekly order. I thought they would be so grateful to have the chance to get back their regular customer. Instead, the girl on the phone asked if I was the one with the Uber complain - to which I said yes. She went to speak to the guys at the back, while I was on speakerphone - and came back on the line to say she wouldn't serve me! She accused me of giving them a bad review, to which I said, no I absolutely did NOT write a review. I always try to resolve problems without a bad review. Instead of having an ounce of decency and customer service manners to realize that they are so lucky that I came back, I was met with this level of disrespect, of falsely being accused of a bad review AND being told they won't serve me. So here I am, writing that review which I was accused of previously - and saying I am so, so disappointed that on top of poor quality food that you do not take accountability for, you also don't know the first thing about customer service or respect for a customer who has been giving you business week after week.
Danforth Dragon is one of our favourite Hakka restaurants. My partner and I have been coming for the two tofu lunch specials for quite some time now. Always great. We recently reached out and asked Danforth Dragon to do a catered event for about 30 people. The food was tasty (everyone asked where the food was from), reasonably priced and exactly what we negotiated down to delivery time and portions. Thank you and see you soon.
I have to say the food was delicious best Ginger chicken l have ever had, Hakka noodles amazing & excellent spring rolls & Shrimp rolls. Was attending Ben, Evelyn's wedding there was so much food & even gave people take home for next day very generous. Thanks again best food ever at a wedding!.?
I ordered the dragon chicken through ubereats and it had no flavour. I’m so disappointed, I tried a lot of hakka spots in Toronto before and wanted try something new but this spot was a bad idea. Don’t order from here guys.
Encouraged by the positive reviews I have ordered their ginger beef but I'm afraid it's not even edible. Very tough and very sweet, it felt like eating batter covered in hard caramelized sugar. I don't know if it's old or just badly prepared.I felt sick after few mouthfuls. Waste of money and shame on whoever cooked this thing.
After all these years, Danforth Dragon remains truly legendary. The crispy ginger beef is still one of the best in the city, with a sweet-savoury crispy coating over tender beef. The shrimp fried rice is generous with the protein and tasty with the rice. The portion sizes can feed a flight of dragons. The prices remain reasonable, and the service remains quick. Overall, still a great spot to chow down. --- Original Review: Holy Hakka, the crispy ginger beef is amazing!!! I've tried hakka a few times and the crispy ginger beef is my go-to test of how good it is. Gotta say, Danforth Dragon did not disappoint. The beef was crispy without being hard and jerky-like in texture, the garlic flavour really came through, and the overall taste was sweet/spicy-but-leaning-towards-sweet. Basically, checked all the things I look for in my crispy ginger beef. Got also a few other things: - Shrimp pakora: Pretty good! The coating wasn't too thick, shrimp-to-fillong ratio was fine, and while it was chewier than what I'm used to, that was actually a good thing. - Singaporean noodles: A miss for me. I opened up the takeout container and smelled the curry and got so excited. Too bad the dish didn't live up to that initial smell. It wasn't bad, just a bit dry and would have wanted a slightly stronger curry taste. - Mango lassi: Thick, yogurty, strong mango flavour. I really enjoyed Danforth Dragon. And needless to say, if you do stop by, make sure to try the crispy ginger beef.
The service is great and the food is even better. Try the crispy ginger beef and don't miss out on the delicious vegetable balls.. the only really hard decision is if you should get the amazing garlic sauce, or the fantastic manchurian sauce.
