This is my favourite coffee shop along the Danforth avenue. I pass by there when I walk to my office every morning and grab my cup of coffee. The girls who serve my coffee are amazing. Their smile is a bonus.
Amazing coffee and even better customer service! The staff are always warm and welcoming, and you can tell they truly care about the local community. Mofer Café is a real neighborhood gem on the Danforth — highly recommend!
I find charging extra for plant based milk very offensive. I walked further west and found another Ethiopian coffee shop Abol coffee shop which is very affordable, no extra fee for plant milk, awesome service. That one, I would give 5+ stars.
The interior is quite nice and it's not too busy. The coffee was good. I also tried their beet latte, which has no other taste than milk and paid $8 for it, had to dispose off most of it. We also had to escape because of the music. This must've been some kind of ethnic music played by someone's friend. It was literally a squicky sound on repeat for 30 min. I just can't imagine anyone in their right mind listening to that voluntarily. We could not focus on a conversation because it started giving us a headache.
Mofer is close to where I live, so although it's a bit corporate/formal from a decor perspective it's convenient and the coffee is good. But the music machine is broken (plays slow and distorted) and the men's bathroom is nothing short of disgusting (see photos). Bits of use toilet paper everywhere, sink is disgusting and dirty and even the walls are marked and shabby. Surely a bathroom check every couple of hours is not too much to ask. I won't come back.
I’ve just been there and am a regular with my weekly study visits. Today at around 4.30pm I have ordered a chai latte with soy milk and paid $7.79 including 15% tip. It went through and I moved on after seeing ´approved’ note on the machine. Later they called me and asked to pay since they said it didn’t go through. I checked my bank account and it was shown as the most recent purchase. The women disagreed with me and said it only shows pending. All credit cards shows pending for the first day of a purchase and have it listed under posted for security purposes. I don’t have to defend myself for paying something. Nor can be asked to double pay. I asked if they have a receipt showing card not going through. They ofc did not. I left the caffee and left my drink. I have spend $7 on goods I didn’t receive + publicly blamed for not paying. I can’t forget about this experience and will be sharing online & with my friends. The purchase will be posted in 2 days as it went through and I will write another review than. Shame on the owners.
So today me and my colleague went to Mofer coffee located in the corner of coxwell and Danforth! We ordered our drinks and sat down for few minutes of chat as usual. My colleague had a small bowl of oatmeal from home and started eating with her drink. As we were having our conversation, the owner Milkyas comes and started yelling at my colleague saying and I quote, “you are not allowed to eat here, it’s illegal” those words sounds ok but the angry tone in which he communicated them was scary and traumatizing to say the least. And I am sitting there looking at an owner of a beautiful cafe abusing my colleague just because he is the owner. When I tried to intervene, just to let him know that it was not ok to talk to people like that, he responded, and I quote” please don’t come back here, you are not allowed here and I don’t care” my goodness, we were shaking and definitely we left but we left so helpless!
