I gotta be honest. One of the best coffees I’ve had but a bit pricy. The evening we sat there though the incense that the barista was burning behind the counter was so over powering I could never go back to sit.
Yesterday afternoon, I visited Moffer Ethiopian Coffee House at 55 University Avenue to try their much-talked-about toasted avocado dish around 2:00 PM. I was greeted by a young woman named Hana, who embodied the warm, welcoming hospitality typical of Ethiopian culture. I informed Hana about my dietary restrictions, explaining that I avoid certain foods. She listened attentively and, like a trained dietitian, patiently explained the ingredients of various dishes with genuine care, reminiscent of a family doctor. Based on her recommendations, I ordered a toasted salad with salmon. When the dish arrived, I was surprised to find the salmon was raw. My face must have shown my discomfort—I’m fine with raw meat, but raw salmon was a cultural shock for me. When I mentioned this to Hana, she immediately noticed my reaction. I responded, saying, “It’s my fault; I should have asked you first.” Later, my friend explained that salmon is often served raw, so the misunderstanding was mine. With warmth and professionalism, Hana asked about my preferences and quickly brought me a gluten-free tuna and avocado dish. It was delicious and mouthwatering, exceeding my expectations. I was truly captivated by Hana’s kind, supportive demeanor and her ability to handle the situation with grace. I genuinely admire Moffer Coffee’s exceptional customer service and approach. Honestly, without exaggeration, Hana is the perfect Barista-in-Chief.
I usually judge a place by cortado since and unfortunately I found their cotado burnt May be it was an isolated incident but despite asking for dine-in cup, I was given a to-go cup
This is the first time I have visited the coffee shop. It is right across the street from the office. I was meeting a friend to catch up over coffee but couldn't resist the Avocado Toast. It exceeded my expectations and was simply delicious! To top it off, the portion was generous and the price was reasonable. I did also ordered a drip coffee, which was complementary to the Avocado Toast and flavorful.
Giving two stars so that google doesn’t delete my reviews. You guys need to find a better server. I didn’t need to come in a cafe and get treated with attitude. The coffee was watery too. Don’t come there’s better options around
I encountered an unpleasant situation this morning at the 55 University location. I wanted to use the space and I decided to order a summit green tea. The cash register showed $2.83. She said it's $2.85. I didn't have access to my cards (changed bags) and had cash only. I gave $3 and the female staff said she didn't have change. I asked what are my other option she said use your card. I explained I don't have my cards...she said she can't help. I just feel in this situation it could have been handled better. I left with no tea nor ability to use the space. This was my first time visiting. Sadly was my last.
Love z coffee and excellent service and I had a tuna sandwich it is a must-try! Perfect balance of flavors and very fresh. I’ll be coming back for this.”
