Acceptable prices and service. This place is the closest local hardware store and is fairly well equipped more than most downtown home hardware stores. There is a higher price point than say Home depot. Unlike most Home Hardware this place is meant for hardcore contractors and has an extensive lumber supply downtown, building materials, and they do deliver. The service can be hit or miss and sometimes the lumber they give you can be quite full of knots as you don't select them yourself. But they do load stuff for you and have drive through warehouse. Parking is available but scarce since it's so full of contractors. Wheel chair accessible, reachable by bus transit along Dupont. They also have an extensive bathroom and tile store with a wide array of trim and doors.
Most staff there know their stuff. Unique imported materials, and they have everything you need to do any size job. Very dependable because their delivery is always on time. Nothing like the big box stores, way better!
I was a first time shopper and went in with a long list in my pocket I asked at the counter for a cross brace for a wooden gate (anti sag kit). The guy looked at me like I had 3 eyes and said unequivocally "No we don't have that". Seeing the selection in the store I would be willing to bet that they not only had the item, but had 2 or 3 different options. After experiencing that terrible customer service attitude, I put the list back in my pocket and went to Home Depot. I spent 250$ at the big box store and got every item on my list (even the funky o ring for an antique faucet). That is money which could have gone to the neighborhood, but if you don't act like you want it I will spend it elsewhere.
Absolutely the worst store to shop in - no organization! I bought tiles at the end of the day and they told me to pick them up the next day, I went and they told me they just sold all the boxes of that tile to another customer. When I asked how this could happen, do they not have a system in place that keeps proper inventory, they laughed and told me no, theyre old school. Its a joke, even old school they would have a pen and paper in place to write that a customer already purchased some boxes of the product. They were no help at all, absolutely useless, its not the first time, but definitely the last for me - never shopping there again!! Save yourself the headache.
Went into home hardware to buy a shelf. 1 thing led to another and it turned out that there was a problem with the product that I bought. Edgar and Carmo (Managers) dealt with getting it fixed and they did a great job. I thought that because it was a special order that they would give me a hard time, but they were cool and got it fixed for me. They were nice about it and understood my perspective on the issue. I would recommend this Home Hardware.
