Fantastic food. Barman who might have also been the manager made us a delicious Negroni. We just got back from Japan and we have been missing the details and care they take with food. This place took that same care and detailed approach so we really appreciated it.
I hate to say that we were quite disappointed with the food. The portions were unremarkable, though the quality of ingredients was great. The service was acceptable, but by no means outstanding. Sorry to say we left disappointed, and we really wanted to LOVE this place.
The atmosphere at this place is awesome but the food and service were unfortunately lacking in my opinion. We got the chicken karage, pork skewer, crudo and miso eggplant. Everything was just okay but missed the mark in some aspect (e.g., heaps of excess batter on the karage, lots of fat on the pork). The crudo and umeshu were the highlights. The service was really slow however the bar was busy so to be expected.
We stumbled upon this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavour of the food at Bar Shozan. We ordered so much food because we had to try everything on the menu. The portions were pretty small and it can be pretty pricey however, its quality over quantity here. Definitely get the chicken karaage, pork belly, and Hamachi crudo. I will definitely have to come back!
This Ossington gem is SOOOO freaking good. We ordered the pork belly yakiton, tebasaki wings, pork gyoza, chicken karaage, eggplant miso dengaku and the mentaiko mayo fries. We literally had to stop ourselves from ordering more - everything was so deliciously prepared and mouthwatering. Definitely coming back to try the seafood!
Food and service was excellent. The restaurant was smaller than we expected. The vibe was as close to visiting a high quality hole in the wall restaurant in Japan as you can get in Toronto. (except Toronto rather than Japanese pricing). We had reservations so there was no wait.
I went in today to try this restaurant with my partner and ordered some sushi. The raw salmon smelled like wet cloth. Didn’t even bother complaining about the food, because it ruined my appetite. Never coming back here again.
