For that kind of mandatory tip, you’d expect excellent service, but our server was just average at best. We only ordered four dishes and the total was over $90 for per person, yet the portions were small and we left still feeling hungry. On top of that, the food took a long time to come out. Overall, it was overpriced, slow, and not customer-friendly. I would not recommend this place.

Pretty nice interior & vibe, the food was super average, owner’s (?) kinda stuck in his own fantasy. The service was awful. The guy literally snapped at the table next to us just because they said the cocktail didn’t taste right, and he insisted it tastes exactly the way he wanted - it’s just bad bro. Totally overhyped, not worth it.
Please update your google hours to reflect when your kitchen actually closes. People travel and to show up half an hour before your “supposed” closing time and be told that the kitchen is closed is very unprofessional. Please have consideration for people’s time.
Well… Where to begin? Our first immediate red flag was that we asked if we could start with 3-4 dishes and order more and they said no. We didn’t appreciate that so we very wisely stuck with just 3-4 dishes. I got the short rib yakisoba and at this point I realized the big joke was on us. This was a bowl with five to ten noodles in total, swimming in sauce, and three tiny thin strips of short rib. Almost no meat, few noodles, and tons and tons of sauce. The cherry on top was when we went to pay at this expensive, overpriced restaurant that charges $30 for five noodles. They charged a credit card processing fee! And don’t tell you on the menu. I don’t care if it’s a cheap restaurant that does that, but to overcharge people and then charge this fee on top pushed me over the edge. This was the final straw where my laughter about being ripped off turned to anger. And being charged 18% mandatory tip is probably because they know they piss so many people off. Alas that is life, some good meals and some wastes of money. We got Pho across the street after our meagre rations. I see the owner responding to the negative reviews and I think it shows what kind of selfish, arrogant person must be running this restaurant.
Everyone was raving about this place, and I had been meaning to try it for a long time. So, we went and sat at the bar, where we could see the kitchen. And when we saw what was going on, we both just lost it. How could someone be handling raw egg yolks with their bare hands... and touched the receipt and then using the same hands to massage the egg yolk?! Thank goodness we didn't order the egg yolk rice bowl, or we wouldn't have been able to finish our meal. We ordered four dishes, but only the mashed potatoes were decent, but not impressive. The pork chop sandwich was mediocre, the pork chop was not flavorful, and the bread used was also mediocre. If you want a tonkatsu sandwich, go to Ohiru Cafe. ?❌❌❌❌❌The worst part was that we ordered three drinks, and the last one tasted like soap water to my friend and me. It was so unpleasant that we couldn't even finish it, and our taste buds were severely offended. We were very polite and courteous and told the bartender that the drink tasted strange. We didn't expect him to make us another one, but his response was "This is exactly just what I wanted it to taste."? In a normal bar, if I taste a strange-tasting drink, they usually make me another one or explain why the drink tastes that way. But his attitude was so bad, and he charged 16? for a drink that was less than 100ml and was so rude! The bartender's face turned black after he said that, and he didn't even ask us if the food was good. And when it came time to pay, he gave me the cash register himself, and I was using a Visa credit card. He didn't tell me that Visa cards would incur an additional fee, and if he had, I wouldn't have used my Visa card to pay. He charged me an additional fee anyway. The taste is bad enough, but the hygiene is a huge problem, and at least the service attitude should be good.
Update: changed the chef and the staff. We were all disappointed in our last experience, found it pricier and less tasty. We didn’t like that they force the service fees AND charge you fees for credit card now. One of our favourite place in the city. Went twice and can’t wait to go back. The place is low key but has so much to offer! Each plate is a bomb of flavours and quite unique. We enjoyed every little plate we shared but our favourites were tartare, tonkatsu and I can’t say enough of the yakiudon. What a surprise, the texture and taste blew our mind! Desert is exactly like I like: sweet and salty. Great service. Fabulous sake. A must!
