I've been going to Downtown Gas and Auto for 45 years as of this month (Feb. 2025). I believe that's eight cars I've entrusted to the Panagos family's care, starting with my 1979 Malibu. I bought three cars through them. John Jr. and Pat were kids when I started going there. They've always made me feel like family, as you can see from this 2015 photo.
So honest and knowledgeable. Pat advised me to go back to my Mercedes dealership because the issue with my car could possibly be covered under warranty …. And so it was. Big savings?
Had a nail in my tire on Friday afternoon, the owner was super helpful and accommodated me last minute. Appreciate fitting me in and having my tire repaired.

I had brake work done at another garage closer to me. A few months later I started to hear clunking noise. I took it back to the garage but they couldn't diagnose the issue. I went to google and found Downtown Gas and Auto who had good reviews. They got me in the same day I called. They determined the sound was coming from seized brakes due to a lack of lubrication (seems the original garage failed to do a proper brake job). The owner was welcoming and the technician was thorough. Lesson learned, don't go to rinky dink auto shops for service. Should have done more research and came here first. Highly recommend.
