Small and a bit hidden, but really nice museum! (entrance isn’t on Liberty St, come in from Jefferson Ave, across the parking lot) Worth checking out if you live in Liberty Village, and easy to stop by on your way to an event at Exhibition Place, Budweiser Stage, or one of the nearby stadiums. Highly recommend!
I was genuinely impressed by the awesome collection of vintage TVs and media exhibits. It’s like a nostalgic time-travel trip! A great place for anyone who appreciates the evolution of entertainment and broadcasting.
Great little museum to learn about the history of TV. It's a single room, but you can spend about an hour there reading everything and checking all the items out. You have to buzz in on the left of the front door to enter.
A small, one-room museum that is full of goodies! You can learn a lot about the invention and development of television up until the 1970s, with enough artifacts (TVs!) and information to keep you occupied for about an hour if you take the time to read. I enjoyed learning about Felix the cat and looking at the entire wall of TVs from the mid-century. The staff member on duty that day was also very knowledgeable. However, I wish that the exhibits didn’t stop in the 1970s! I would have loved to learn about more recent developments, e.g., the transition to flat-screen/LCD TV and newer technologies. Also, the entrance was a bit hard to find. Walk across the parking lot on Jefferson Ave and you’ll see an inconspicuous door where you’ll need to ring a bell for the staff member to come and open it. Better signage would be great!
Amazing place. I am surprised that I did not hear about it before. I went during Toronto Doors Open and was so impressed by the vast collection of the televisions, especially some very rare ones. The place is well organized and staff is super nice and I can tell they are proud of this place, and you can even have an experience of airing real-time on TV which I did and was really fun. It is definitely a place worth visiting whether you are visiting Toronto or if you are a local.
It's not a museum so much as an exhibit but enjoyable nonetheless. They are expanding the collection mid October however.Good if you're a fan of t.v. and its history. Plus the guy that was running it had a deep level of knowledge about the collection.
Immensely enjoyed the exhibits. It's quite a large collection of vintage TVs over the years including the original TV from the World Fair before WWII. Very well curated displays and a fantastic app you install on your phone to give you a personal tour of the exhibits. I easily spent a couple hours here. When we attended we were fortunate to receive a guided tour from the museum director who even hooked up a vintage TV and showed us the landing on the moon as seen back in 69. Highly recommended for technology history buffs.

It is a really nice collection of old TVs dating back to the 1920's when it was a "mechanical TV". Don't know what that is? Check it out at this museum.It is a single room, but I did manage to spend 2 hours there looking at all the TV's and reading the labels. They have an MZTV app that gives some audio commentary to the exhibits.It is worth going to if you enjoy history of things.
The tour is in one room and although it's short I really liked it. Learned a lot and there's some pretty cool stuff in there.
