Rouge National Urban Park covers a relatively large area in the outskirts of Toronto. Its certainly not the first thing one would recommend to visit. The word urban in Rouge National Urban Park is descriptively appropriate to this particular park. The southern part of Rouge National Urban Park features a small sandy beach; no BBQs allowed. Theres a phone number posted on the beach that you can call to verify the water quality. If you look at the East of the beach, far away youll notice a large factory. There are also two bridges in the area: one for pedestrians, the other for trains. The Rouge Hill Go Train station is a 5 minute west of the beach. From the beach, you can see and hear Go Trains (and the occasional VIA train) passing by every 5-10 minutes. The Southern part of the Rouge National Urban Park also includes a medium to large size busy parking lot. North of the parking lot is a marsh and short board walk where people like to fish, walk, and take photos.

A great place to hike. The trails were easy and they had some fun activities for kids at the Welcome Center too! Not to mention, it was just an hour away from Toronto. :)

Nice walk/hike. Salmon rush. Salmon swimming upstream. Cool. Need more directional signs. Good staff on site.

This forest has been an integral part of my life. It offers a relaxing escape from the rushed lives we tend to live. It doesn't take long after entering to forget completely just how close to the city you are. It's upgrade to a National Urban Park enhances visitor experience through new and constant programs administered by passionate staff and volunteers. An afternoon here is sure to leave you planning your next visit.

This beautiful urban park is located not too far from the city core. It is bus accessible and there are many parking spots for those coming by car. The park itself has a lot of different trails that lead to open spaces where you can relax and take in the scenery. Beware or bug bites and sunburn so come prepared with a lot of bug repellent as well as sunscreen.
