Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! The unmistakable sight of ramen noodles brought on heart palpitations of excitement, especially with the black garlic addition. While generous on the fried garlic oil, it lacks the delicate sweetness I would normally expect, but still delicious nonetheless. The noodles were thin and springy, soaking up the miso base broth nicely, decorated by bites of a gooey onsen egg, fatty cha shu, and crunchy marinated bamboo shoots to keep every moment varied and novel.
I had the Original Shoyu ramen. The soup was too salty and lukewarm. I wish they had actually taken the time to turn the stove on and warmed up the broth. The topping portions were good and the noodles was 'al dente'. Overall, I rate it as so-so.
Got the spicy miso. Overall it was pretty good. The spice level is quite high, which normally I like, but found the heat overpowered the flavour of the broth a bit. Chashu was DELICIOUS however. Maybe the best pork ramen topping I’ve had.
I'm confused why the rating is so high for this ramen restaurant, which got me to try. The ramen doesn't have ramen texture taste, it tasted like Nissin instant noodles which was disappointing only the broth taste good. Meat was also nothing special. The dumpling also didn't taste like handmade like it was from a frozen package at a supermarket. Ramen and dumpling is pricey considering it's mediocre. Also, to note this is located inside chef's hall.
The garlic miso was really good! Well cooked chashu as well. I had no idea the restaurant was owned by owners from Ramen Isshin (my all time favourite spot) and Ryu's noodle bar. Willing to check it out again next time!
