New location! Only time for a quick gift purchase but based on what I saw he still has a great selection of music on vinyl and CD and in all genres. I can't remember if he still has DVDs. Lots of box sets. Prices are about what you expect to pay now such as 40 or 50 for the current (brand new) repressing of a key Blue Notes jazz album. He sells used too at a good bargain. Worth the stop if you buy physical media. Just note the hours: open every day to 6.
I love this store, they have a lots CD and vinyl in all kinds of music with neatly arrangement. their price is competitive and reasonable . A-must-visit-record-store in Toronto
Really great owner. I wasn’t looking my best and felt insecure walking in. Honest guy. He was very kind. You don’t feel judged here and don’t have to look like you came off a green day cover to sell here.
I went here to find a copy of hurry up were dreaming a few weeks ago. I got there 15mins prior to opening 30 mins past opening nobody was there. Given how rough the area is it made the wait that much worse. In the end I went to sonic boom to get the vinyl I was looking for. It's sad because I had heard good things about them but first impression was awful. UPDATE: the shop said it was opened at 11:30am on a Thursday and it was not a holiday of any kind. There was also no indication in the window of a closure either super unprofessional response from the owner glad there are other reputable stores in toronto I recommend both KOPS and Sonic Boom updating from a 2 star to 1 star after that response
I’ve been shopping at this place since the end of XX century and sometimes I’d spend well over an hour at a time, browsing through numerous CDs and DVDs. Once, while inside the store, I heard music that I found irresistible-that’s how I discovered “Era”, a new-age music project by French composer Eric Lévi and immediately bought two CDs. On another occasion I got quite curious about a very original musical performance-and subsequently I purchased several CDs by Rick Wakeman. I have also bought many DVDs, some of which I still enjoy watching. And sometimes I was able to listen to lively discussions about various movies between customers and the owner (or his assistant), which I found quite enlightening! I’m glad this place is still in business and I hope it’ll prosper for many years to come. All the best!
You will find nice vinyl for good price if you’ve got time. Little bit unorganized, check single records, there are under D & C section. I found Enigma single which was so rare. Owner of the store not so friendly but he is cool.
Bought a movie here. Discovered the disc was scratched and unplayable when I got home. Clearly he doesn't check the discs before buying or selling them.
