Was excited to check this store out, but when I entered I was met with a dog barking at me. Some lady let her dog off leash in the store and the employee manning the cash did nothing about it. The dog was barking at everyone and was sniffing and rubbing up against the clothing. Given the employees response, I'm sure this is a regular thing. It made me realize how filthy the clothes in this store probably are. The risk of fleas is high here. Definitely not coming back.

3 stars because they do have cool stuff. I went in on Thursday and 2 employees were working. I walked by them several times and was not acknowledged whatsoever. Not even a greeting. It was unsettling to say the least. I did a round of the entire store despite the awkwardness. Walked out empty handed. Is this “too cool for you” attitude normal at vintage stores?

Nice thrift store with cool heavy metal background music. Went there with my daughter and read pleasantly surprised by the alternative/rock style they focus on. Bonus: I saw some capacitive video discs from the early eighties that failed and became a curious technology from the period.

Public Butter Vintage is one of Toronto’s coolest and most eclectic vintage shops, and stepping inside feels like entering a time capsule curated with serious style. The selection is impressively diverse and constantly changing, making every visit feel like a new adventure. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do, often happy to help you dig through the racks or offer styling tips.

Expected to find the Blue Banana store which was great but unfortunately had closed down but instead found this place. What a disappointment! Overpriced merchandise with poor organisation and choice and staff with an attitude. My first and last visit there. If you do buy anything be sure about it as you won’t be able to return it. My advice: avoid.

Was super excited about a big awesome new store in my kensington neighborhood, but got home and realized my sweet new black tee had a huge oil stain on the front. Brought it back - no returns or exchanges even though they were selling me a crap product. Would have been a very happy multiple return customer but ya lost me guys.

Trust the reviews about the staff! It’s an ‘okay’ store. All items are FINAL SALE so visit the changing rooms, if you’re comfortable doing so. Otherwise, try items that can go over your clothes. The store manager is the only reasonable staff you’ll find. Visit this store at your own risk. I got a super cute vintage wallet but that, and the manager’s assistance, aren't enough to warrant my return.
