I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but the quality was poor enough that it made me feel nauseous and we discarded it. We ordered an apple fritter and a Jamaican patty. The fritter was extremely oily and, similar to another review I just read, had a stale/bitter aftertaste as if it was fried multiple times in old oil. When ordering the patty, I was asked if I wanted it heated. I said yes but didn’t realize that “heating” meant it was going to be microwaved in the paper bag for 90 seconds, making the patty very soggy. The pastry/dough was not flaky, had a sour smell, and the filling inside tasted off. I share this feedback in the hope that it encourages better quality control and food handling in the future.
We visited the St. Lawrence Market today to enjoy the Christmas Market and do some shopping. We were drawn to the delicious-looking apple fritters inside the building kiosk. We purchased one and sat outside by the fire to enjoy it. It was fresh...but something was very off with the taste. It tasted like soap or possibly dirty frying oil. The after-taste was horrendous. The bakery kiosk outside were very apologetic and kindly replaced it. We took it home and tasted the new one. Same disturbing taste and after-taste. Like bitter soap. For $4...the bakery needs to investigate their baking methods. Until then....avoid!
Awful service. The server was rude. The peameal sandwich is dry and salty. Bacon and bread, what is so special? I am sorry, I truly don't understand what people find " Delicious" in that sandwich. The market is very cool.
Carousel Bakery is hands down one of the best spots in the city! The food is always fresh and tasty — especially the famous peameal bacon sandwich. The service is just as great — Richard always goes above and beyond to make sure every visit is a great one. Friendly, fast, and consistently excellent. Highly recommend!
We had the peameal sandwich and the double egg sandwich. They were both capable but forgettable. If I was going to do it again, I would choose somewhere else.
I tried the famous peameal bacon sandwich. It was very busy but got served very quickly which was nice. Lots of sauces available to add. The sandwich itself was very tasty with juicy bacon and nice bread, but for any British people I will warn that it isn't much more than a standard bacon sandwich you'd get in the UK.
I have stopped to try the famous Peamel bacon. Despite there is no sauce on the sandwich, it was really nice. Service is a bit rude. Place doesn't provide any table or small chair.
