I don’t usually like leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but I was really disappointed with my recent experience with Celena’s Bakery especially given that the order was for a special occasion. I called to place an order for my daughter’s birthday cake, and during the call my order was verbally confirmed. I was even told, “consider your order confirmed,” and that I would receive an email so I could pay the deposit when I had a chance. The email with the payment request came later that afternoon. I was busy that evening, and when I went to pay the deposit the next day at lunch, less than 24 hours later, I discovered that my order had already been cancelled without notice.
I'm glad I found this lovely gem of a bakery/coffee café on the Danny across from East Lynn Park. Baked goods are yummy. My chai latte was good. Good vibes and great place to pause.
I really like this place the quality of everything there is great and good variety and you can't prices are very reasonable and nice staff. Great place
This was a good bakery but has gone way downhill, we try to avoid going as much as possible (only exception is their sourdough bread). I have had all of their baked goods many times, the scones are dry and barely have any fruit (had a peach scone and it has maybe 1/16 of a peach in it), the almond croissants have no filling, and the muffins are just ok. The sandwiches are great, however, expensive and it takes 20 minutes to prepare. Cookies are just ok, quite dry, the ginger cookie is their best.
I used to be a regular here and always wanted to love this place (food is yummy), but the customer service has consistently felt cold and dismissive. After one too many uncomfortable experiences, I’ve decided it’s time to move on. Everyone has off days, but when it becomes a pattern, and there’s no effort to acknowledge or take accountability when something goes wrong, it leaves a lasting impression. It’s disappointing to feel unwelcome, especially as a POC, in a place you’ve supported for so long. There are plenty of cafés and bakeries in the city that value their customers and create a warm environment. I’ll be taking my business there instead.
The bakers really know what they're doing..such artistry! Beautiful custom made cakes and the flavour is delicious. We will try a different kind next tine as we ordered buttercream twice!
To the newest comment rated one star below I can guarantee you majority of all or half of these ratings are fake or are made from the ‘friends’ of the owners of this bakery. I love how they make up this excuse that their website is currently/clearly under construction. If that is/was the case the items on the site should not be listed as what this customer saw them for and the site should be closed till further notice. It was wrong on their part to not fully shut down the site and notify others and this customer should have been given the cake based on what it was ‘listed’ for. Now when it comes to horrible customer service I can confirm that is 100% accurate. There is absolutely no misunderstanding for the mood of their servers/manager. Just because you are having a bad day or are going through something it does not give you any right to treat another individual as if their complain/question is unworthy of consideration. Another thing Don’t ever let your child work in a place like this if you want their self esteem to go down. I have been coming here for years but after witnessing employee after employee resigning/leaving I can confirm they do not know how to treat their staff. Absolutely Disgusted. Not coming back.
