Big thanks to the friendly folks at Gerrard Street Bakery for saving me from myself when I left it a bit late to get pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. I went to a couple of places who had racks of pumpkin pies, but who said “Sorry those are all orders and you’re too late to place an order.” My son then directed me to Gerrard Street Bakery, who also had a large rack of pumpkin pies, but when I asked if they were orders, I was told, “Help yourself, the orders are all in the back.“ So I bought three; catastrophe averted! ❤️ Smart business! There’s always folks like me who need a last minute bail-out and will help you sell more than you thought you might.
Purchased 2 mini sized dessert cakes in small containers. Simply delicious. My wife enjoyed her dessert too ! Will return to try out more goodies. Perfect location: after enjoying a nice chinese or vietnamese meal, one has the option to enjoy a nice pastry or cake from the Gerrard St. Bakery. Yum !!!
I always go to this place because I love the size of the cakes, and the baked goods are really great!! Love the cheesecakes and love the size of them. I wish the carrot cake had a more cream cheese tasting icing. I've had the carrot, brown butter and butter tart cakes- make sure to eat close to or at room temperature (like 2 hours out of fridge). Everything else is great and staff is great!
The lemon tart was perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet or sour. The brownie was incredibly rich and had perfect texture. Both were the best I've had! The solo lady working was also very friendly.
I’ve followed this bakery on IG, even though I live in Calgary. So I was delighted to go in yesterday since I’m in Toronto. OMG, I wish I could try everything. The butter tarts are absolutely to die for. And I’ve eaten A LOT of butter tarts. Really, they are the best. I also got 2 empanadas, 1 meat, 1 vegetarian, which were also delicious. The store is sandwiched between others on a busy street. Well worth a visit.
I am a returning customer who has been buying her birthday cakes for friends at the Gerrard St Bakery for about 4 years. I usually stick to the smaller cakes: recently I was able to delight one of my friends by getting his 2 favourite flavours when he couldn't decide.? While we enjoyed the 6 inch Mini Egg cheesecake that we ordered for Easter, it was ultimately far too expensive for what it was ($50). We wondered if the price was because of the Mini Eggs but they were only really sprinkled on the top of the cheesecake.
