I have been going to Hot oven for over 10 years. I moved out of the bloor west Village, but still made an effort to go visit one of my favourite bake shop. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in management or ownership , but I have to say over the past 8 months or so I have noticed a complete decline in customer service and product quality. Product size has gone down which I understand in this economy. But what was most disappointing was when I recently purchased my favourite cupcakes from the bakery on Friday and when I took them home, it was very clear, These were not fresh. You could taste the freezer burn in the cupcake itself.
The service is always great, it’s a nice - if not a bit awkwardly laid out - bakery, but I stopped in here yesterday because I wanted a cupcake, and while I did get a cupcake, I was rather disappointed with said cupcake. I got the chocolate caramel one, and the caramel tasted kind of burned, the cake itself was super dense, and so was the icing on the top. Not a very good cupcake.
I often visit this location as it’s in the neighbourhood & it’s my favourite place for fresh bread! I usually get the crunch sourdough or at times the vegan miche. I’ve also tried their baked goods & they’re delicious & fresh!! Lovely service by Anh!! She’s super sweet & friendly! The staff is very kind & the shop is also clean & organized! I highly recommend to visit this location as they have varieties of baked goods & bread
I got this fruit cake today and, while the presentation is lovely, the taste was very disappointing. Extremely dry and crumbly, and the marzipan icing did not adhere to the cake at all. Very disappointing.
I discovered this little bakery on a whim a few months back and I must say, it’s worth the drive from Brampton. I stock up on Montreal bagels (3) and I also buy the New Yorker bagels (2) these don’t last long in the house. Great customer service and great quality bagels worth the drive.
Good Friday 2022. Bought Hot Cross Buns here . Came home to eat ,terrible plastic taste . Thought it was from bag but all through the buns . Can’t get back to easily, will be throwing out. Disappointed.
This was my first visit to Hot Oven Bakery. I loved The was the baked good were displayed. Everything prewrapped made it perfect for pick up!! The tea biscuits and croissants were divine!! I don't live near but I will make the weekly trip! Very friendly staff.
