I went to Menelao’s Bakery to get some traditional Greek foods for my 98 year old father who lives at the Hellenic Seniors Home on Winona Drive in Toronto. I found it very convenient to find hard-to-find Greek foods like helopites, trahana, Greek mountain tea, friganies, and a wide assortment of Greek Sweets. The quality of the foods was very high, and the prices were reasonable. I recommend it to anyone that looks after their Greek parents at the nearby seniors home, or anyone that yearns for Greek comfort food.
I was hoping that with the change of ownership this place would have changed for the better. The desserts previously were never fresh at all, finding out were made from serranos, even though I'm told made in house now the freshness was just not there. The baklava tough and galaktoboureko no flavour. The lady helping us out who was the new owner needs to attend a politeness class. If she continues to speaks to people the way she spoke to my mom and aunt she won't last long
***** Under New Management *** Menalon Bakery has been in the neighbourhood for years I had heard that the Bakery is now under new management I went in this morning and spoke with the New Owners The most significant change is that the Baked goods are now made fresh onsite. They have also brought In a wider assortment of Feta Cheese and Olives I purchased An assortment of Greek deserts and when I brought them home the family absolutely loved them You can taste the freshness. I am so pleased that the bakery is open as the location is Ideal for us. 5 Stars Well Done!
If you like being screamed at for being on a video call in the shop, this is the place for you! I was excited to find this shop, as someone new to the city and was showing the products on a video call. The owner (I assume) started screaming at me, saying it was illegal to film in shops. If there was a sign to say this, I didn't see it. The city's information helpline could also not confirm this to be true. I wish I had seen the other reviews saying how rude and horrible this person is, to avoid coming in. I will not be coming back. There are plenty of other places to find Greek products where you are not screamed at for no reason.
Phyllis made my mother's sitari and it was perfect. She made it in all the separate baggies with spoons and presented it in a beautiful wicker basket. We also brought diples which are the best! Great selection of all foods Greek.

If I could give more stars, I would! I called the owner to discuss any possibility of catering for my husband’s birthday party. She worked with me to create a menu that would feed 20 people with an arrangement of homemade Greek food that impressed everyone. My husband is Greek and even his particular tastes were more than satisfied. Beyond the quality of the food being excellent, the owner was knowledgeable and helpful in planning over the phone and so charming and kind when I entered the store to pick up the food that I felt like I was back in Greece with the warmth and kindness of the Mediterranean people. Thank you!!!
