Extremely rude! Told me to leave because he was apparently busy with something in the back. Didn't want me browsing, even though all I was doing was trying to decide which product to purchase AND he had an employee watching the front anyways, when I mentioned this he told me that his staff felt uncomfortable with me there...which was completely untrue. Very unprofessional.
Love this shop has so much variety & the staff know their products and help you know what product is best to use for you so polite and amazing energy, our will only shop here for the supplies I need now ,
TLDR: pass this salon if you're a natural looking for styling/services, they clearly don't know what they're doing. Went in for a trim and it was clear the shop owners weren't very skilled on natural hair. I came in freshly washed and detangled in my natural state. He immediately went in with a pick in a way that definitely caused breakage and then proceeded to go in with an even finer comb for the trim. I would've preferred at least a blowout beforehand to prevent breakage from all the combing, but I digress. Throughout the appointment he made comments that indicated that he didn't have much experience with coily/natural textures, even going as far as to say that maybe I could teach HIM something when I asked for styling recommendations. He seemed surprised and fascinated by my hair, as though it was his first time seeing natural 4C hair. He even got his friend to come look at my head, making me feel like some freak show. In the end, I left the salon looking worse than when I'd come in - there was no styling done. I know I came in for a trim, but at least put some effort into making me look somewhat presentable. I paid $70 for the service, which took me by surprise because I was initially told that it was $40. I was disappointed by the service and not confident that the trim was even legit and/or beneficial given the clear knowledge gaps that the hair dresser had. It's okay if you're not versed on natural hair, but don't pretend to be to get money out of me. They're sweet men, but I felt swindled and I would not let them touch my head again. They have a wide range of products for a decent-ish price, but I'm not sure if I'll be buying products from them anymore either.
I usually don't write reviews, but my recent experience at Ragga Hair Studio & Beauty Store Inc compelled me to share my thoughts. I arrived 30 minutes before closing, looking for a bun. A staff member helped me choose one priced at $7.99. However, when I went to pay, I was charged $13.99 and $15 with taxes for a medium bun as shown in the photo. When I questioned the discrepancy, the cashier said someone had misplaced the price tag. I found this misleading and asked for the he difference refund which is around $6 something Instead of resolving the issue and apologising , the cashier became defensive, telling me that if I didn’t want it, he would just give me my money back and wanted to end the conversation. After leaving, I met a friend who informed me that this practice is against the law. When we returned to discuss it, the store had closed ten minutes early, and the staff raised their voices at us. The older gentleman was particularly rude and could benefit from some customer service training. It’s frustrating because we choose to support local businesses, but this experience makes it hard to return. It's disappointing to see how he treated not only me but other customers as well. I hope they can improve their service in the future. Their behaviour is ridiculous.
love this store with all my heart! i’ve been going here every month since i moved to toronto just for their hair oils and shea butter and i can tell you the staff is extremely friendly and kindhearted! went there today and i’ve been having a very hard week but unknowingly gordon at the cash gave me a whole new outlook on life.. i cannot recommend enough! <333
I am so relieved to find this gem a because there wasn't any Black hair store close to where I am staying at. It was about 30 minutes walk but I didn't mind it because it is close to the Easton mall. The store itself is small but it's stocked up with almost everything I usually buy. I ended up just buying extensions, small glue, gel, beads and golden clamp. I visited twice and both people working there remembered me and complimented me on my hair. It was a warm environment that made me remember my home from when I was living in the states. Thank you for this gem! I know it's not easy but it is desperately very much needed in the area.
My go to hairdressers. Missed them so much! In and out in a flash and safety first during the pandemic is their priority, making it a definite spot to make an appointment at. Friendly and professional service always.
called to ask whether they had hair coloring in rose gold. they said id have to come in to see. the whole point of calling is so that i dont waste my time going in only to find out you dont have it. they lady was very short with me and not helpful at all
Good customer service in a super convenient location for black hair products in the downtown core. If you want to support an independent black owned hair store when you're downtown give them a try. Also their selection of crochet hair, braiding hair and products for your natural hairstyle is decent.
Considering the lack of beauty supply stores in the downtown Toronto core, let alone owned by a poc, I was hoping this shop would have a larger product line for curly hair. Not the case. There are sooooo many amazing hair and beauty products available now, more than ever before, its a pity this place doesnt supply products and accessories that are current and on-trend. Id love to go back and support but they dont cater to my diverse needs. The prices are comparable to other beauty supply stores.
I travel from Calgary to get my hair done. Love coming in to see the guys. Highly recommended
This place does not even deserve one star. The worst customer service if you try to call them. I was calling to ask to have my own very short hair braided in 2 dutch braids. The guy on the phone told me a ridiculous price of $ 75. I told him it was just my own hair and he said he cannot give me an answer. Don't waste your time with this place. No customer service skills or intelligence from the coworkers. Overpriced as well.
