This is the first thing I am doing at 7am and plan on skipping breakfast to do so…. Here is a clearer, more sympathetic, and more credible version — detailed but concise, with your loyalty emphasized and the disappointment expressed softly but firmly: ⸻ I’ve been a loyal customer of this shop for about 4–5 years. In that time, I’ve trusted them with everything from simple oil changes to a major $1,500 repair, and until now, I always felt John was fair, quick, and respectful. I even left a positive review a few years back because of those experiences. Two months ago, while I was out of town, I had my valve cover, timing belt, and serpentine belt replaced. The car—a Fiat 500 I’ve owned for 9 years and maintained carefully—has been running perfectly since aside from the light smell of burning oil which existed before my valve cover. I booked an appointment for an oil change, to check a check engine light and fix the oil issue. I waited two weeks before he could take my car. I dropped the car off yesterday at 8am. By 2pm, John said he was just starting to work on my car. By 2:30 he called and told me abruptly to me to pick up my car and said he would do repairs on it in the future because another mechanic had fixed my car and he had no idea what work he’d done. He said he didn’t want to deal with it and wouldn’t work on it in the future. Honestly this upset me and hurt my feelings. This was surprising, especially since the issues were minor and the car was running fine otherwise. When I arrived, the explanation changed. He told me that none of his new mechanics knew how to work on a Fiat, and he refused to take the car now or in the future. Keep in mind, he also mentioned my lower ball joint needed replacement “ASAP,” yet still sent me away without offering a safe solution. He knew I had previous work done in London, so suggesting I drive a potentially unsafe car several hours back felt dismissive and completely unlike the service I’ve known from him or any other mechanics I’ve dealt with. After 5 years of loyalty and respect, I left feeling confused and let down. Whether he quit on a long-time customer or hired mechanics who aren’t capable of handling anything beyond basic repairs, the result is the same: I no longer feel I can trust this shop with my vehicle. If you only need simple work or maybe a tire change you have my blessing I wouldn’t bring a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, or Fiat here. The inconsistency in his explanations and the sudden refusal to help a loyal customer have made it impossible for me to recommend his shop in good faith. I. Fact my experience was so poor I’d probably find someone else. I will reiterate I had a tiny oil leak which he confirmed and the car runs nicely but not perfect as I like. I immediately took my car to another shop just up the street and within 15 minutes diagnosed my car and said the repair would be 2-3 hours and the PCV Valve and seal cost $115. If another mechanic can diagnose my car in 15 minutes after being given the same information I don’t mind paying the $20 premium in this new guys hourly rate. So my final point, if John’s shop incompetent or just too lazy to take a bit of time to properly diagnose my cars repair.

Very impressed with this dealership! I called, had my car assessed, and fully fixed in less than 72 hours. They were very kind and helpful with some other small issues! They also called afterwards for some more advice to keep my car running smooth. Would highly recommend

Worst shop I’ve even been to. I explained the issue with my vehicle and the mechanic just shrugged and didn’t say any. I do not recommend this shop as they don’t only value your business but also treat you with disrespect.

Went in for an oil change (paid $64) and was advised that there was a leak and a new oil pan would be required, at a cost of $945. I decided to double check the issue with the Toyota Dealership. It appears Mount Pleasant Auto Service forgot to install the drain plug gasket when they did the oil change. Because of this I had to pay Toyota $160 for their service to double check the leak issue. New gasket was put on and there is no longer a leak. I am very disappointed that a simple oil change had to turn into my additional time wasted and money paid out all over a missing gasket. Not Happy

How impressive is this? John at Mount Pleasant Auto Service on Mt. Pleasant Road (above Eglinton) will have all my auto service requirements from this day forward. Now that my car’s warranty had expired I needed a good reliable local garage. I had read good things about John’s place. In my first dealing with them John’s team was unable unfortunately to find the cause of an electric short in the wiring for a power window. Despite his hours of time plus his installation of a new master window switch and motor in an attempt to fix this problem John refused to take any money at all from me. (Only a dealership’s specialized equipment after several more hours of investigation could discover a hidden corroded wire.) I look forward to more dealings with John for my ongoing maintenance and repair needs. I bet he treats all his customers with the same respect. Thanks again. David

Great service, always get good advice and insight into what needs to be done, and whether it's necessary, and given the choice to decide best direction. I really respect and appreciate that point of view. Most realistic autoshop I've been to. Curnel

These guys have been servicing my Diesel Jetta for about 5 years; sometimes twice a year. Always on top of my service and super clear explaining when/what/why the work needs to be done. Never needed to return after the first visit when a repair was done One time before closing I had discovered a leak in my tires from a screw. All the mechanics had gone home. Without hesitation John in the office patched the tire and sent me on the way Even recommended a cheaper tire place when I needed a new pair. Edit: 2025 and I still trust John & Mount Pleasant Auto with my car

Sorry, but our garage is too small to work on Sprinter type trucks that are way too tall to even fit in the service bay.
