First of all I really want to thank Mina the receptionist who helped me with the insurance. And coming to the treatment part I had an amazing experience with Dr. Sharareh pourmand and the nurse . She is truly a life saver! The treatment was done so gently and professionally, and she explained every step with so much patience. I’ve never felt this comfortable at a dentist before. I’m really grateful for her care and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and patient dentist. I can’t thank her enough—she’s Super patient, kind, and her treatment was really smooth. Best dentist experience ever.
I never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist since my past experiences haven’t been the best. However, since University Ave Dental Clinic is close to my campus, I decided to give it a chance and honestly, I’m so glad I did! From booking my appointment to receiving dental services, every staff member has been extremely kind, informative, and professional. Because of that, I’ve decided to make keeping up with my oral health a consistent habit and I definitely look forward to my future visits here. I also don’t see myself going anywhere else since the team here are all amazing and overall truly exceeded my expectations! If anyone is looking for new dental clinic this one a worth a visit.
I had a dental cleaning done last week with Ms. Maro. She is an absolute gem. I had visited the clinic a few days ago to book an appointment and was impressed by her patience and thoroughness when I heard her going over recommendations with a patient after their appointment. I was not disappointed, as it was the first time enjoying my dental cleaning and feeling someone actually cares about my oral health. I higly recommend this clinic. The cleaning feels professional, and her kindness in answering any questions or concerns amazed me, on top of the cleanliness. I feel lucky to have found this place.
Last week, I urgently had an appointment to replace a filling that had come out. Dr. Pourmand was not available, but another doctor, whose first name was Dr. Farnaz, was there. I only came to have that specific filling replaced. At first, based on the X-rays I had taken last year, she said I had several cavities and insisted that they should be treated immediately, around 4 or 5 in total(She couldn’t even accurately find the dates of my previous visits in the system). I told her I would address those later and asked her to only replace the filling that was urgent, since Dr. Pourmand had examined them last year and again two months ago and confirmed it was not urgent to fill them. However, Dr. Farnaz kept insisting. She recounted my cavities again and told me I needed to fill them right away. I repeated that I would do those later and emphasized that I was there only for the urgent filling. She asked if I wanted X-rays for an overall check-up, and I said no, that I would come back later. She told me she would administer anesthesia, but I explained that I could tolerate the pain and usually do not use it. She seemed surprised and asked, “You are only here for the replacement?” I confirmed that I am! As she was about to start working, she suddenly said she needed to take new X-rays for insurance purposes. I do not understand why she mentioned this only at that moment and not at the beginning of the visit. I felt she was trying to charge me more, as one filling does not cost that much. Later, when I read reviews, I recognized that this seems to be a pattern of behavior at this clinic. After taking the X-rays, she claimed I had another cavity on the same tooth that also needed filling. I said no for now and asked to do that one later. She refused and insisted that both had to be done together, even though they were on completely opposite parts of the tooth, and said she would not do the urgent filling unless I agreed to both. The additional cavity was very small, while the urgent part was my priority. She pressured me, essentially threatening that if I did not agree to treat the other part, she would not treat the urgent part either. I explained that I plan to go back to my country and address that part later, and asked her to do the urgent filling, but she refused. When I finally left the room, she was extremely impolite, clearly not expecting me to refuse after her pressure. During this time, it was clear that the doctor was anxious and visibly trying her hardest to convince me to fill both parts of the tooth. She was using every story and argument she could think of to persuade me. She couldn’t even accurately find the dates of my previous visits in the system. In my opinion, she was neither experienced nor qualified as a dentist. This felt like coercion and was unprofessional. Even when I offered to sign a consent stating that I only wanted the urgent filling, she still refused. She was putting unnecessary pressure on me. I had been going to this clinic for a year, and Dr. Pourmand was my regular dentist as I didn’t know any dentist in Toronto . Because of this experience, I will never return to this clinic. I hope the two teeth they filled for me this past year weren’t unnecessary, and that they didn’t just say I needed fillings to charge me. I am extremely disappointed with her behavior, which forced me to delay treatment for a tooth that urgently needed filling. In the end, she even sarcastically suggested that I check ChatGPT to verify her advice. Asking a patient to consult AI instead of providing proper professional guidance is completely unprofessional and, in this case, only added to my frustration. I visited new doctor recently, and he said there was no urgent to fill my another part of the teeth. ******I have referred several friends and members of my student community to this clinic in the past, but I informed them of this experience and strongly advised them against visiting. I also plan to post a comment about this clinic in my university group to prevent others from having a similar experience. ******
They used all of my $1000 insurance amount for the year in a checkup and teeth cleaning. They performed procedures on me after saying I have perfect teeth which i didnt even need. I couldnt go to the dentist all year because they used up my insurance. Thanks alot
I book my appointments through text messages and the receptionist is very prompt and sets reminders for you. Alexandra the hygienist here is great and so is the doctor I’ve been coming here for four years now and its been best decision coming out of University and transitioning into a working professional.
Everything goes professionally there, starting from the smily welcoming receptionist, up to the amazing staff members and dentists. Alext is a super nice girl who cleaned my teeth. Although I asked her a lot about tools sterilization and cleanliness, she realized that it was my first time and considered my nervousness. She answered so politely. She gave me heads up about what she was about to do. She's amazing! The X-ray guys are nice, and the dentist is clever as well. They gave me tips ho we to take care of my teeth. I liked the place!
