Don’t go to this clinic. I went there for my son’s eye exam. They charged more than other FYi, and also they didn’t check in advance for your insurance, but asked me to pay for the balance after everything was done. While in other FYi, I didn’t pay anything for my eye exam at the FYi Fairview.
Folks! I have read all these 4- and 5-star reviews, and in general, I would say they are fake. This is the second dysfunctional office operated under the brand of FYI Doctors. Evidence is as follows. I have now had two back-to-back appointment cancellations from FYidoctors locations (based on their own fault). Each time, I spent considerable time booking and coordinating my schedule, including canceling another medical appointment to accommodate theirs—only to have my appointment canceled again by the clinic. Dealing with Dr. Antonia Sarantopoulos is, frankly speaking, a total nightmare. What makes this especially disappointing is that the clinic enforces a $75 no-show fee for patients, yet offers no equivalent courtesy or accountability when the cancellation is initiated by their own office. It’s extremely frustrating to lose hours coordinating appointments with no consideration for the patient’s time. The staff I spoke to were "artifically polite", but the overall scheduling reliability is very poor, and it creates unnecessary inconvenience. I have requested that the clinic apply a credit to my account as a matter of fairness. Samantha, unfortunately, put me on hold (+20 min wait time over the phone), and was unable to offer any constructive solution. I hope the management team improves scheduling practices, proactively notifies patients, and applies the same standards of professionalism to themselves that they expect from patients. Corrollary: I expect a $75 no-show fee credited in their system towards future use, as a result of Dr. Antonia Sarantopoulos' repetitive cancelation (no-show). #Dr.Antonia-Sarantopoulos-MisManagement Update: First, I was booked for an appointment through FYidoctors’ central scheduling system. FYidoctors assigns patients to locations under their brand—this includes the Yonge St. office. If the clinic believes otherwise, this indicates an internal communication issue between FYidoctors’ booking platform and the clinics themselves, not dishonesty on my part. Second, the clinic’s reply suggests I requested a “same-day” appointment. This is inaccurate. My appointment was scheduled and confirmed the day prior, and then canceled by the clinic, just as another FYidoctors location had canceled on me earlier this week. My review reflects the impact of two consecutive cancellations from FYidoctors locations, not any misconduct on my part. Third, the clinic accused me of “aggressive behavior” and even went as far as citing “racist undertones.” These claims are baseless and deeply inappropriate. I used no racist language, made no personal remarks about anyone’s ethnicity, and simply expressed frustration after losing hours coordinating appointments that were canceled by the clinics themselves. I have the call logs and communication records to support this. Fourth, the clinic omitted an important fact: Their pricing model bundles Eye Exam + Optomap + OCT Scan into a single mandatory $275 package, whereas Ontario regulations require that patients always be offered the choice of a basic eye examination without add-on imaging. OCT and Optomap are optional services. A clinic must not suggest that these are required or refuse to provide a basic exam without them. This issue was part of my original concern and remains unaddressed in their response. Finally, the tone and content of the clinic’s public reply—accusing a patient of “spreading hate” and “blasphemy”—is highly unprofessional and concerning. No regulated health professional or clinic should respond to a patient’s criticism with personal attacks. My review is about scheduling reliability, lack of proactive communication, and the clinic’s unwillingness to apply the same standards to themselves that they impose on patients (including a $75 no-show fee). Nothing more. I hope the clinic improves its communication process, avoids making personal accusations against patients, and aligns its scheduling and billing practices with Ontario’s professional standards.
Always a great visit with Dr Awadia, she's absolutely great with the kids and also with adults. Even though my mother in law has a language barrier, she always feels comfortable with Dr. Awadia and her staff. My kids feel at ease and super comfortable, they actually enjoy their checkups. I absolutely recommend Yonge Eyes Optometry. Just a note: the stairs up are a bit steep and there's no avoiding them.
Dr. Awadia has been our family’s eye doctor for many years now. She’s an amazing optometrist, and our son sees Sareena for vision therapy to treat his esotropia. I cannot say enough positive things about vision therapy and Sareena! She is always trying to find activities to fit my son’s interest to help engage the turned in eye. In a few short months we have seen a ton of progress and I am so grateful for Sareena, Dr. Awadia, and vision therapy as a whole!
100% recommend as the doctor and staff are not only qualified but also help you with your needs according to you and ensure your comfortable the whole way. As someone who as had vision problems ever since i was born i have never really found a eye clinic that understood my issue individually. i was not even aware of vision therapy until doing a check yo here but was the best decision for my vision. everyone is so nice and helpful!
I had an excellent experience at this eye clinic. The doctors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly friendly. The staff ensures pleasant visit, no waiting time – I was seen within moments of my arrival, I highly recommend this clinic!
Wonderful experience taking my 3.5 year old for her first eye exam here at the clinic. When additional recommendations by the optometrist were made, it was clearly communicated up front whether or not there would be a cost associated above the OHIP eye exam fee prior to them happening. Dr Yohanna Emun was so good with my daughter and made the experience a lot of fun, and the clinic overall was clearly stocked and prepared for pediatric patients.
