Frequent miscommunication on the phone with front desk and spa director. Tone of voice needs to be acceptable as it was not. Very rude and disrespectful tone when I needed a simple clarification, as the director was very contradicting over the phone. Phone communication and respect is well needed.
Do not waste your money at this spa. Spent way too much time sitting around their waiting area and not enjoying or being offered to enjoy the spa. Even the manager thought it was totally appropriate to spend my time in their waiting area doing nothing. They have scheduling issues that need worked out. There are far superior spas in the city to enjoy. The spa itself is rather older and needs updated.
I cannot say more about Sweetgrass. It is a very relaxing, all women spa where the staff are all quite friendly. Have had many manicure and pedicures, the pool facility is smaller, but very relaxing. The entire experience the spa provides you with is excellent
I want to start off by saying the service staffs and RMT therapists are all hands down 5-stars at this spa, we were greeted & welcomed by the receptionist girl and our spa day was going great. However, another lady behind the front desk really took away from our otherwise perfect experience here. We were a group of 6 ladies and we were booked in for the very last massage appointment of the day. Our massage finished around 6PM (I later learned that the spa closes at 6pm that day). After our massage, we were taking turns to shower - with 6 ladies and only 3 available shower stalls & other guests lining up to shower at the spa, we were taking a bit longer due to the lineup and it went passed their closing time. A nice receptionist lady came in to tell us they are closing, but said we can still use the shower since we were covered in oil. We showered as quickly as we could - few minutes later the other front desk lady came in and gave us so much attitude to rush us out of there, some of us were still putting on clothes and it felt extremely uncomfortable. It was very rude, negative, and unnecessary. Aside from this experience, everything else at the spa was excellent. The food, massage, water therapies were top notch. However, I don't think I would return again due to this negative encounter which left a bad taste with us.
This female only spa does not allow "couples massages" , which I find a bit strange. They also force you to pay a mandatory 18% gratuity if you book services for 4+ people but you do not actually get to enjoy the services in a group setting. So as a hint if you want to determine the gratuity (based on ACTUAL great service received) then book individually and do not mention you are together. Furthermore, they force you without telling you in advance, that they charge another 18% on all food/beverage items to ensure their staff are "properly compensated". However, the front desk staff are not waitresses and they do not serve you like one. They do not show you the bottle of wine you order, they do not leave it in sight for you nearby, they do not come ask you if you want more wine or offer you water after your treatments (you need to go find them). This is totally BS. Tipping is meant to be the customer's way of thanking staff for going out of their way...not mandatory based on some skewed system where the business tells you what you need to pay their staff to do their basic jobs. This spa is expensive. They should adequately pay their staff and not pass the buck to the customer, or at least train their staff in serving to a standard of earning an 18% tip!Spa services were good and I appreciated the massage and facial so I gave 2 stars for the girls that worked on me. But otherwise, $450 for two services and 1/3 bottle of wine is really expensive for this basic spa.
