Crystal Thani really impressed me! We had the khao soi with braised beef and the chicken pad see ew, and both were amazing. Everything was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. With so many hyped Thai spots in Toronto, I wasn’t expecting to be this blown away but it definitely stands out and is worth a visit.
I lived in Bangkok for a year. I have spent many years since then trying to find real Thai food. This may be the only time I’ve ever had a phad grapao/krapow/whatever you want to to call it that’s been legit. The Tom Yum soup was also completely legit as well. So many places skip details, change things…this is it. Close your eyes, and that phad grapow tastes like a $6 meal eaten off plastic stools in a steamy side alley somewhere in BKK. That’s the proper, 10/10 street food style phad grapow, and it’s unreal. Whatever y’all are doing over there, please don’t stop, I crave this stuff deep in my bones. I fly to the other side of the planet just to taste these tastes again. Looking forward to trying your green curry, I hope you manage to work the same magic on that dish. But like, damn, 10/10 no notes on the grapow and tom yum.
Great spot! Went with my homie cuz we both like Thai food and had just caught a show at the theatre across the street. Only to find out the atmosphere in this place is surprisingly romantic. We agreed we gotta bring our girlfriends here next time. The food was firstly beautifuly set but also delicious and the servers were super gracious, i have never drank that much water in my life. Haha i kid, but theyre very attentive and funny and personable. I recommend!!
Crystal Thani, College st, is one of those neighbourhood gems that strikes a great balance between comfort, flavour, and value. I recently visited the restaurant for dinner, and overall, it delivered a very enjoyable experience that left me satisfied and happy to return. While not everything was perfect, the highlights easily made the visit worthwhile—especially the Pad Thai, which truly stood out. The moment you walk into Crystal Thani, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The décor is simple but elegant, blending traditional Thai accents with a modern, relaxed dining setup. The staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being intrusive. Service felt timely even during the dinner rush, which added to the overall pleasant experience. Now, onto the food—the main reason to visit. The Pad Thai was without question the star of the evening. It came beautifully presented, with a generous portion of noodles cooked to the perfect texture. The flavour was exceptional: a harmonious balance of sweet, savoury, and tangy, with just the right hint of smokiness from the wok. The crushed peanuts, fresh bean sprouts, and lime on the side added brightness and texture that elevated each bite. It tasted authentic and well-crafted, easily one of the best Pad Thai dishes I’ve had in a while. The Green Curry, on the other hand, was more on the average side. While the ingredients were fresh and the portion size was fair, the flavour didn’t quite have the depth or richness I was expecting. The curry had good heat, but it lacked that creamy, aromatic punch that usually makes Thai green curry memorable. It wasn’t bad by any means—just not as impressive as the Pad Thai. With a bit more boldness in seasoning and a richer coconut base, it could match the quality of their other dishes. Prices at Crystal Thani are reasonable for the quality offered, and the menu has plenty of options for different tastes. Overall, the restaurant is definitely worth visiting, especially if you’re a fan of great Pad Thai. With a few small improvements, Crystal Thani could easily be a solid five-star spot.
Ordered from here on Uber Eats. I ordered 2 dishes - they only sent me 1 dish, and it was wrong. The other was completely missing. There was NO RECEIPT attached to the front of the bag - this has never happened to me while ordering Uber Eats before, so that was a huge red flag in itself. Won't be ordering from here ever again.
I don't usually order Thai food not because I don't like Asian food but palace is very good men flavor on flavors I think I will bring my love my friend there is more to just fried chicken with rice oh that jasmine rice nothing like please take your family to this place ok thanks chef for the extra chicken
Terrible experience. We’ve made a confirmed reservation. Received a call from the restaurant only 2 hours before our reservation saying they have to push it more than an hour (to nearly midnight) or move it to the next day. Not even asking if it’s ok to book a different time instead but actually telling us that we can’t come unless we comply with a different time. What’s the point in reserving a table then?
