Dr. Yang was absolutely great and carefully working on the treatment for my teeth. But I was charged by the clinic operator with higher price code than the Sunlife insurance pay codes causing that I had to pay about 10% extra from my pocket for my treatment. I got the explaination upon calling the clinic that their price codes may be different than insurance company, for example the clinic is located in downtown with higher cost…

Downtown Dentistry gave very good service, with great staff! Coming all the way from Germany, and needing an emergency appointment, they are highly recommended!

Dr. Reddy was the worst dentist I’ve ever encountered. Not only was he aggressive with the tooth filling to the point of making my tongue bleed, but he drilled so hard that I had tooth sensitivity for almost a year. I’ve had other dentists do fillings and nobody was ever that rough. He also has horrible bed side manner…critiquing his assistants infront of me in a patronizing way. Dr. Chan was also very sneaky in trying to get more money out of me for my Invisalign..and pushing other procedures on me and making me feel like I couldn’t say no. I got another opinion and was these things were not pushed on me whatsoever. Worst experience and I wouldn’t trust them. They just want your money..keep looking!

Very expensive and not communicative about expenses/ charges up front at all. They knew that I am a student and still overcharged me for services that I did not know beforehand. I ended up spending almost 2000 dollars for just dental cleaning, filling and sealants and my insurance only covers 500 dollars!!

Treatment itself was fine, but the staff kept referring to me by my Chinese middle name in official communications even though I had filled out my full legal name that includes my English first name. When I was there, I had another form to fill out and I was questioned when I used my English first name that I had used all my life. I was also asked if I was Taiwanese like what does that have to do with anything?? I have never had so much attention paid to my name before and it was just a very bizarre experience.

On April 19, 2022, I booked an appointment on April 21, 2022, to see both Dr. Amelia Chan and Dr. Julien Kim for an Orthodontic consultation (based on the good reviews on Google), which was confirmed by Helen the receptionist. On April 21, I was excited to take the GO train (which was my first time) to come to Downtown Dentistry because it is located downtown and the scenery and view was very nice. I got to see the CN Tower, which was nice. The only problem was that it took me about 15-20 minutes to figure out where the building was located once I got off of St. Patrick Subway Station. Once I figured out where it was I went and took the elevator, (floor 18), once I got there, I knew I didn't want you just walk in, so I knocked and a young gentleman opened the door and introduced himself, which was nice. He asked me if I already got the New Patient/Patient Consent/COVID-19 forms signed and I already got them signed, also did the pre-COVID-19 screening before I stepped foot inside the facility (which I did while I was taking the GO train), so I waited to see Dr. Chan, everyone seems nice and very professional, I got to see the hygienist, Dr. Johnson, and other professionals, which was nice. I told them about coming to see them for a second opinion about my overbite and what option is available for me, regarding my teeth. I did get to see both Dr. Chan and Dr. Kim, about my situation, and they were honest, and I did respect their opinions regarding my teeth. She told me if I want my teeth to be somewhat good, go with Invisalign, but if I want something better and very good, go with jaw surgery. I wanted to go with jaw surgery because I wanted to fix my teeth which Mother Nature did not do for me. She recommended a surgeon down at Hamilton, to which I did not mind going, but everything was done so quickly and I didn't know if they were trying to help me or just wanted to make money off of me. So I talked to one of the Patient Coordinators, Miley Zhang, and she told me the costs of the Orthodontics Payment Options Braces, which, I didn't even know if I was into going with them or continuing orthodontics treatment with Dr. Lee. I just realized that I didn't need to do a (Comprehensive Exam, 7 PA, 4 B.W. X-Ray, Panoramic, Radiograph, Ceph, and 1 film) because I have already done it at my other dentist, but they did (3+Photos, Model Scan, and the Invisalign Tx Presentation), which to me was nice. They all seem to care about their patients. But Dr. Johnson said I needed to come back for fillings + rescan for ortho/mz, which was okay with me, but the reason for the 1 star is because I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was there, everyone was too nice, but seem to have an agenda or something, the pricing is too expensive, my insurance covered some of the cost, I ended up paying out of pocket, which was okay with me. But what got to me was that they were more focused on making sales, rather than helping their patient. I have Miley come to me and tell me how much my orthodontics treatment plan will cost, even though, I haven't made a decision yet. And everything went fast and done all today. If I had gone back in time, I wouldn't have gone with them. They seemed too sketchy, too nice for my liking, it was like they were programmed to be nice, but at the same time make you feel like they are after something. Recently I have been emailing them to send me my X-ray photos, so I can send them to my dentist because I paid for them they told me they don't do refunds, so I kept emailing them to send them to me, and I guess they don't want to? And the kicker here is that I went to do my regular cleaning at my dentist's, and they didn't see any need for fillings, the hygienist and the Doctor checked my teeth and didn't see anything. He just told me I have puffy gums. That was it! So now I think they are money money-hungry establishment! Do not go with them, unless you have money to spend at their luxury office. They are nice to your face, but they want your money. Go somewhere else. Your wallet will thank you!

Your reply to my initial positive review reminded me that I had posted it pre-maturely. Subsequent to that review, I underwent an Invisalign treatment, and was completely devastated by the result (including pulling the front teeth out from the gums) which I will have to live with for the rest of my life. I documented most of the issues in detail as the treatment unfolded. The dentist refused to acknowledge that there was any undesirable result whatsoever. The office has since hired an orthodontist to perform the Invisalign treatments, so hopefully nobody else will have their smile ruined at this office. I gave two stars (instead of only one) because the office has a friendly upbeat atmosphere, and I was generally satisfied with the dental (as opposed to orthodontic) work I received.
