I was charged an extra $0.50 on a $6.99 purchase just for using my Visa card that’s over 7%, while the legal limit in Ontario is 2.4%. Based on the law, the maximum fee they could have charged me was around $0.17, but they charged me almost three times more. There was no clear notice about this fee displayed in the store or at checkout. This practice violates Visa’s rules and misleads customers.
