Summerhill Market has been a store I’ve frequented for years, and I’ve always been satisfied with the quality of the products and the overall experience—until recently. On a recent visit, I stopped at the entrance to admire the beautiful natural pine Christmas wreaths. As I looked for the price, I noticed something that genuinely surprised me - the tag read “Made in the USA.” It left me wondering why a Toronto grocery institution—one that prides itself on quality and community—would need to import natural pine decorations from the United States. Canada is home to vast forests and an abundance of pine. There is no shortage of local growers, artisans, or suppliers who could easily provide these products. Choosing to source something as quintessentially Canadian as a pine wreath from outside the country feels unnecessary and out of touch. Given the current political climate and the importance of supporting local industries, this decision feels especially disappointing. I expect better from a store that positions itself as a premium, community-focused market. Come on, Summerhill… you can do better.

Summerhill sold coffee that was moldy and had only 15 days left to expiration on a 2 year good by date. No response from customer service. Do you even care anymore?

Terrific range of name-brand and in-house products + great salads, soups and entrees (Summerhill's risotto is delicious :) The (original) Summerhill location offers free parking vs greenlot/paid (no validation) at this store. A+ service.

This is my primary grocery store. Everything you need in a grocery store and nothing else. Love the prepared food options and heat-and-eat meals with some unique choices. Friendly and helpful staff in a cool building. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Once a month my husband and I go to Summerhill Mkt for date day, walk around, browse and buy a bunch of fun things to try. We always walk to Rosedale, but today we decided to change it up. Everywhere we went an employee was next to us. Visibly pretending to fix something on a shelf, or “read a label”. I felt pretty awful about it, honestly. Thought about it my entire walk home. I have never stolen anything from anywhere, ever. But I felt like I was being watched based on how I looked. Anyways, store beautiful. Super clean and airy. I wont return to this location but Rosesale still has my business!

I was visiting a friend in Forrest Hill and we popped in here to get some cheese for a charcuterie board for dinner, and we were both pretty disappointed to find there was next to no cheese options, just basic cheddar pretty much, and some lactose free kinds. We had to go down the street to shoppers, and surprisingly they had plenty more options. Pretty weird for shoppers to have more cheese selection than a specialty market.

Pricey but you get what you pay for. I don’t make the income to shop here daily, but treat myself often to their delicious rice pudding, cold pressed beet juice and the amazing selection of baked goods like their cookies, croissants and jalepeno corn bread!

Hi Morgan our cheese selection (and most of our specialty foods) are located on the second floor. It’s unusual to have a second floor and this happens occasion. Sorry to hear this.
