I recently took my visiting nieces to the Distillery District. It was a hot day and we were excited to come across this quaint little chocolate shop. Thinking that the shop looks like it would offer the European-style high-percentage cocoa chocolate drink, we each bought one iced chocolate. What a huge disappointment. The iced chocolate was totally water down and lacking any cocoa taste. I'm no fan of Tim Hortons' hot chocolate at all, but Timmys' hot chocolate tastes better than Maisonette's!
Atmosphere. Cute and pricy. Very touristy. Service. Warm and friendly and knowledgable. Food. Chocolates are lovely and pricy. Are the chocolates worth the price - thats personal. For me it was very good but there are other places i would go. Though in this area this is the place to go. The hot chocolate was very good and reminded me of Mexico and other places that make authentic cacao beverages. The larger size is much better value. Would i come back again - no. Of in the area and I’m cold and want a warm drink - yeah why not.
Drink of The Gods - Ultimate Drinking Chocolate, it was absolutely divine!!! Deep, rich and so smooth. Perfect with a sweet cigar. Cant wait to go back.
REALLY good chocolate, just would say we couldn't even taste a hint of garlic in their black garlic bar. It's not 'subtle' as suggested but unperceivable and it's too bad! When you put a flavour as the title of something, you can assume the purchaser wants to enjoy that. Also just constructively want to say the wrapping was hard to get into and then when it was opened was not possible to rewrap it securely for later, so had to put it in a bag to protect; could be designed more functionally. In any case, very yummy thanks!
This place is a must! I don't live anywhere near but I still will go out of my way for the chocolate there! Doesn't matter what you pick, you can't go wrong!

Sunday, my boyfriend and I, along with another couple, visited this store in the Distillery District for hot chocolate. While my friends had already purchased their drinks and were enjoying them, my boyfriend and I were browsing the chocolates, deciding which box to buy. We had only been standing at the corner of the store for less than two minutes when one of the staff members (the heavier-set one, to clarify) approached us—not politely—and bluntly asked how she could “help” us. The tone immediately felt rude and unwelcoming. My friend mentioned that they were just drinking the hot chocolate they had purchased, and, shockingly, the staff member asked us to leave the store. We were stunned and upset. We weren’t causing any trouble, we weren’t blocking anyone, and we had done nothing wrong. The store wasn’t busy, and we were genuinely looking to make a purchase. What made it worse was that we noticed another group standing in the exact same spot for much longer—chatting and hanging out—but they weren’t asked to leave. The entire experience left us feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. As we were leaving, the staff member even made a comment to another employee, saying, “We’re not a café.” If we weren’t supposed to stand there, that’s fine, but they could have politely informed us instead of being so rude. It’s hard not to wonder if this treatment was discriminatory towards us as Asians. We’ve never felt this uncomfortable in such a setting, and it’s deeply upsetting that this ruined our day. The Distillery District is known for its festive, warm, and welcoming atmosphere, but this store was the complete opposite. The service was terrible, and honestly, the hot chocolate wasn’t worth it as well, go to Soma or other stores for the better one please. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and I hope others don’t have to experience the same treatment we did.
