It’s an elegant place with very good service, located close to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts (home of the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada), Roy Thomson Hall (home of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra), and within easy walking distance of several Mirvish theatres. On Saturday evening there was live music, and it’s definitely better to make a reservation.. Amuse bouche A small sourdough toast with whipped ricotta and pumpkin notes reminded me a few autumn leaves caught by the first snow - something simple and beautiful at the same time. It brought to mind, forgive the perhaps uncommon association, Japanese ukiyo-e prints. Beef Tartare It was a very good steak tartare - hand-chopped, with a bit of shallot and capers to add salty and sour tastes to beef, smoothness from egg yolk gel, chewy texture from pickled mushroom and herbal freshness from arugula. To be honest, it was the first time when I found a toast adding gastronomic value - if I may say so, - to beef tartare. Probably, because it wasn't too dry, just a bit grilled, so it made an interesting addition to the dish. Roasted Veal Tenderloin Spectacularly tender veal was nicely paired with mildly roasted beets and sautéed greens. Probably one of the best veal dishes you can find in Toronto restaurants. It's another dish that reminded above mentioned Japanese prints "ukiyo-e" - fabulously elegant, yet very simple, created with a very limited number of brush strokes. Bistecca We ordered: 6 oz Tenderloin, but you can order instead of that 10 oz Boneless Ribeye Perfectly done to medium-rare condition, very tender, so we had a hard time to decide was it more tender than veal or vice versa. If you want, you can order an additional side-dish as beef itself, as well as veal, comes with only small amount of veggies, for example broccolini, etc. Still, the chef’s intention is clear in the presented balance of flavors and textures.. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Highly recommended.
A superb experience! Wonderful flavours, beautifully executed and presented. The lobster risotto and turbot are delicious. Service is charming and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
I wasn’t entirely impressed by either the food or the service. I was the first to arrive for a business lunch, and while the service seemed promising at first, it turned out to be rather inattentive. I had to ask twice for my water to be refilled and twice more to get the bill. Most of us ordered from the pre-fixe lunch menu. The first course, Roasted Ontario Butternut Squash Soup, was tasty. However, the second course, Hand-Made Potato Gnocchi, was a complete disappointment and I could only make it halfway through the dish. Our server never asked if we wanted to order any drinks at the start, nor did they offer coffee or tea after the meal. My guest actually had to leave the table to get the waiters’ attention so we could order coffee. They had run out of oat milk but asked if they could replace it with almond milk, which I agreed to. Unfortunately, the coffee itself didn’t taste very good. I really wish I’d had a better experience, but sadly, I won’t be coming back.
5 Stars all the way! Was in to celebrate a friend's birthday, seated us in a private space as requested and the evening was amazing. Opted for the tasting menu, the food was absolutely fantastic, the service excellent, Victoria was very kind and helpful. Don't miss out on this promo which I understand has been extended to November 15, you will not be disappointed.
The food here was actually inedible. Dry, flavorless and off-putting. The portions were also tiny and my family and I ended up paying $400 for 5 salads. Do not recommend.
