Used to be the best tacos in Toronto. Taco shell was crispy and delicious. Not sure why they changed it and no longer even have the option. Would easily be 5 stars if they fixed this
I highly discourage anyone looking to buy tacos from Tres Compadres. This place is a joke. I bought a couple "single serving" tacos for $6.75 per serving. When the term single serving is used, the standard is 3 tacos, however, for Tres Compadres it literally means 1 taco. Are you kidding me, $6.75 for 1 taco? I am Latino, I grew up eating well made tacos (at home and from the streets) and I can guarantee whoever is reading this that these tacos should NOT be worth $6.75. I would not be as upset if the tacos were actually delicious and thoughtfully made. The corn tortilla looks, feels, and tastes the same as the Piaxtla corn tortillas that can be bought at No Frills ($2.79 for ~15 tortillas). If you are going to charge $6.75 per taco at least make your own tortillas, they are easy to make. I am telling you from experience. I did not find the size of the tortilla big enough to justify its price either. The amount of protein (chicken and fish tacos specifically) was average at most. If you are looking to eat tacos here in Toronto, please stay away from Tres Compadres, unless you want to give away your money for mediocre food. There is a plethora of places with much cheaper, larger portions, and in my personal opinion more delicious tacos.
The food, service, and price point are stellar ! It's not a " cozy" environment. It is clean and functional. I'll eat here again when next in Toronto for sure!
Had lunch delivered from TC today. My first time trying them. I think the meal was very good. Had the short ribs quesadilla and I highly recommend trying it. thank you for a nice lunch today
Today I got discriminate by a guy in the store. White Bearded guy made me very upset throughout the day. Just because I cross a Red ribbon. I search for the owner of this restaurant is "Jahmal Erlington" definitely not him. Found a spanish dude works in the Receptionist he was nice. I will go there again just to meet the guy. There was no sign outside where "Tres Compadres" located, very hard to find.
fresh tasting food, with great flavours. good value for the size and quality. the birria tacos are *unreal*, you have to get them—hard or soft. the chips and guac are also great. the salsa is kinda smoky and unlike any other salsa I've had before, but pretty good. definitely give this place a try!! :)
I generally test the waters of new 'authentic' type restaurants by ordering the simplest dishes and judging accordingly... eg. Italian..I order Spaghetti Bolognese or Carpacio... Mexican.. Salsa and chips.. if the effort shown is above average I am impressed.. in this case.. omg. The salsa alone is worth trip. Got the steak sandwich which just happened to come with salsa and chips. Go. If anything to support people who clearly are trying hard to make authentic Mexican food.
