The best chocolates available in the GTA are sold here. Teuscher of Switzerland is peak chocolates. Everything is small batch made, the pieces are flawless in quality. The store itself is quite small as many are observing, but they still have as much variety as most other chocolateries. The truffle selection itself is more expansive than what other GTA chocolateries have to offer. Their wrapped items like marzipans and cream filled chocolates are also a level up in quality. Service here is also top notch and the care the staff put into packaging is amazing. They may spend 8 minutes or so just preparing the box and bag for a small order, but they produce a nicely packaged work of art The store is hard to find as some have noted. It is in the ground floor of the residential complex and is beside the entrance to the William Ashley store.
Their truffles are the best. I travel to Geneva regularly and usually buy them there. However, unfortunately, they closed all the shops in Geneva and the nearest location is in Zurich, which is 3 hours train from Geneva.
Best chocolates in the world? I guess champagne truffles come close to that description. The rest range from very good to good to mediocre. Pricey, but I would say champagne truffles are worth it. The rest - hardly. Some tasted a bit stale. We discovered Teuscher chocolates last spring, I needed a box of fine chocolates for an anniversary, and have since shopped at the Bloor location twice. The first time all was good. The second time was a total disaster. My wife purchased a box of 36 chocolates. Expensive, yes, but it was for my daughter's birthday. The lady at the store pulled out a box and let my wife and daughters pick chocolates. They did, paid and left. Just as they were walking out to the street, my wife checks the box and realizes that there were only 24 chocolates, not 36. Back they go, the store lady makes a surprised face, quickly apologies and reaches for a different box. Scam or mistake? I hope it was a mere mistake. But at $4 a piece it could have been a very expensive mistake for us. Better watch out when buying large boxes. But that's not the end of it. As we are taking the box out of the nice Teuscher bag, we can't help but notice that it is covered with a thick layer of dust. I felt disgusted. I presume very few shoppers in Toronto buy boxes of 36 chocolates so boxes get very dusty sitting on the shelves for months (or years?). Still, that's no excuse. Shame on you, Teuscher. Shame on you twice for not even getting back to us to acknowledge our disappointing experience which we wrote to you about and not saying you were sorry about it. Needless to say, this was the last time Teuscher will be getting my money. I don't care how good your chocolates are. As a company - you don't deserve my money.
We were at the Manulife Centre and noticed the cute little rabbit and frog truffle boxes in the window. We just had to go inside and get some truffles. We enjoyed the truffles, but beware real cherries have real pits. We can't wait to see what boxes they come up with next. Please note: At time of writing Google Maps has this store down beside The Opera House on Queen Street. It is actually at Bay & Bloor.
