I'm a patient of Dr. Yak. He is the best family doctor I know. He listens to your needs and dont just assume he knows what you need. He makes you a partner in your own care plan. I have never felt more safe in the care of a doctor as I do now. I'm thankful I found this place:)
One of the staff is a thief and stole my phone, be careful with your belongings when you are at this location. Story: I accidentally left my phone on the counter, one staff (black lady) kindly took the phone and placed it in a drawer behind the desk in case I come back to retrieve it. However, another staff took the phone from the drawer. The drawer is only accessible to staff not outsiders, and I highly doubt it was the black lady who took it since she was the one who found it and confirmed she put it in the drawer. However a transgender lady (also staff) was particularly defensive and weird about it, even though I wasn’t even being accusatory. It could’ve been any staff who took it but the trans lady insisted that it was the cleaning staff. Anyways it’s not 100% clear who took it but it was definitely a staff who took my phone at this location.
I love this health team so much and I’ve never had anything but thorough and amazing help from reception. Just such wonderful folks all of them. Edit* - Up until today, I've had such an amazing and caring experience every time. But today I had the rudest most dismissive receptionist and I dont think someone that rude should be handling peoples health matters.
Got in right away luckily when I moved to Toronto last March. I have the great pleasure of having Dr. Rebecca Hicks as my family doctor. THE best doctor I've ever had. She is caring, funny and makes me feel very comfortable. I've had a nurse practioner help me out one time while Rebecca was on vacation I believe and she was great too. 10/10!
The worst customer service I’ve ever experience at a health practitioners office. The staff asked what I what an appointment for and I asked if I could write it down. It’s common practice for people to not want to disclose to the entire waiting room what the appointment was for but the staff didn’t care. The doctor completely missed medical issues I had and didn’t discover until I went to a new clinic. The doctor could only seem to defend their customer service and didn’t advocate for me. They tried to charge me for a medical note for work which is ridiculous and a way of punishing people for being ill.
*Edit in 2023: I don't know if this clinic has reduced the number of admin staff, but it appears that my requests for appointments can often go several days without approval - and good luck getting an appointment less than a few weeks out or speaking to a real human being, even if your problem is time sensitive. This didn't used to be the case. Additionally, basic requests like prescription refills seem to now be funnelled through the same app used to request (not book) appointments. Original review: __________________ Great, caring team. Always helpful and able to get an appointment quickly.
I love my doctor so I'll never leave VFHT. The reception and support staff have gotten a lot better and kinder over the past few years. I like using Medeo whenever possible. --- Previous review: As everyone has said so far, doctor's are great but the rest of the staff are the WORST. They are rude and incompetent.
